Welcome To

BARAH MINISTRIES

a Christian Church

Rory Clark

Pastor-Teacher

Good Morning!

Welcome to Barah Ministries…a Christian Church based in Mesa, AZ…my name is Pastor Rory Clark.  Barah Ministries teaches the Word of God from God’s perspective and not from the human perspective.  Our God is the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Creator of the Universe and all things in it, including us creatures.  John, Chapter 1, Verse 3 says…

JOHN 1:3

All things came into being through the Lord…God the Son, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

Jesus Christ is God

Once people know I play golf, they often ask me if I am a member of a Country Club.  I’m not one to say never, because I’ve done that too many times and it has backfired on me…but I can tell you with great certainty… I’m not the Country Club type.  I’m not the person who wants to be around “a certain type of person.”  Like our Lord, I am a WHOSOEVER person, and I always have been.

I went to high school with a bunch of smart kids, and one of them was what is called an autistic savant...an individual with autism who had extraordinary skills not exhibited by most people.  He had a ritual-rocking dance he would break into at unpredictable times, much akin to the head banging sometimes done by people in the autism spectrum.  When he did, the other kids thought it was time to taunt him.  Not on my watch.  When I was around, I’d stop them, and I’d calm him down.

I have always been a WHOSOEVER person.  My life has been filled with friendships with “the mutts” of the world…people everyone else call weird…yet people I enjoy being around.  For years I couldn’t understand why I gravitated to these underdogs…to the handicapped…to animals…to children…to single mothers…to nerds…to anyone in need…and not until I became a Pastor did I learn this is just something built into the spiritual gift of Pastor-Teacher…a deep compassion for those the world calls “at risk” and “less fortunate.”  The Lord is the same.  Matthew, Chapter 9, Verses 10 to 12…

MATTHEW 9:10

Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house (of Matthew), behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples.

Sinners is usually a reference to unbelievers…in this case, probably a reference to prostitutes.  You know…“a certain type of person” that the self-righteous Pharisees didn’t like.

MATTHEW 9:11

When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, “Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?”

Tax collectors like Matthew (a.k.a. Levi) were lower than prostitutes in the eyes of most Jewish people.

MATTHEW 9:12

But when Jesus heard what the Pharisees were saying, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick need a physician.”

The Lord’s focus was on the ones who knew they needed help…and not on the self-righteous.  The “certain type of people” are the ones who truly take advantage of God’s grace.  Welcome, “whosoever,” to a place where you can learn from a “whosoever” Pastor that loves our “whosoever” God, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Let’s open our hearts and let’s open our ears to the truth that is nestled deeply within the Word of God…the Word of the all-powerful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…as we listen to the song WHOSOEVER sung by “whosoever” song worship leader, June Murphy.

OPENING PRAYER

Let us pray...

We’re grateful, Heavenly Father, for the privilege of studying Your absolute truth...the Word of God…

Father, thank you for loving us all unconditionally…thank you for sending Your Son to forgive us for everything…thank you for giving us the Spirit as a still small voice to guide us into all the truth…thank you for your graciousness, allowing us to make mistakes as we learn…

Enlighten us with Your Word today…take on our burdens…protect us from ourselves and from those who wish to do us harm…sensitize us to the needs of those around us…

We ask this through the power of God the Holy Spirit…in Christ’s name...

Amen.

We begin with few announcements…

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

Jesus Christ is God

That’s quite a bold statement…one that engenders controversy in the souls of all those who merely think there is a higher power…who merely think there is a power in the universe that has their back…who merely think, as Aristotle did, that there is an unmoved mover.  We’re studying Romans, Chapter 10, and we begin our transition to the third passage.  The apostle Paul is in thoughtful reflection about his “kinsmen according to the flesh” and their rejection of their Messiah in favor of following the Law…

PASSAGE 2

ROMANS 10:5

For Moses writes this of the man who practices the righteousness which is based on Mosaic Law…you shall live by that righteousness.

ROMANS 10:6

But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down)…”

ROMANS 10:7

“…or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).”

ROMANS 10:8

But what does God’s righteousness say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith (the gospel message) which we are preaching…

ROMANS 10:9

…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and if you believe in your heart that God the Father raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved…

ROMANS 10:10

…for with the heart a person believes, resulting in (the imputation by God of absolute) righteousness, and with the mouth a person confesses this faith, resulting in salvation.

PASSAGE 3

ROMANS 10:11

For the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ will not be disappointed.”

ROMANS 10:12

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek…for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him…

ROMANS 10:13

…for “whosoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

ROMANS 10:14

How then will Unbelieving Israel and the Unbelieving Jewish Race call on the Lord in whom they have not believed in? How will they believe in the Lord whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?

ROMANS 10:15

How will the preachers preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

Now into the details of Passage 3…

Jesus Christ is God.  The proof?  He was resurrected from the dead.  Luke, Chapter 24, Verses 5 and 6…

LUKE 24:5

…and (at the Lord’s grave) as the women (the Marys) were terrified (seeing the angels) and bowed their faces to the ground, the two men (angels) said to the women, “Why do you seek the Living One (the Lord Jesus Christ) among the dead (ones…at a tomb)?

LUKE 24:6

The Lord Jesus Christ is not here, but He has risen (from the dead just as He said He would).

We are saved when we place our confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ as the One and Only God…the only One who has ever been raised from the dead…and we acknowledge to God the Father in our hearts and with our mouths that we are certain of the factual nature of his resurrection.  For what is written?  Romans, Chapter 10, Verses 9 and 10 say…

These are two simultaneous actions…not one after the other…believe and confess…with one certain result…salvation…deliverance from sin.

On to Romans, Chapter 10, Verses 11 to 13…

ROMANS 10:11

For the Scripture says, “Whosoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ will not be disappointed.”

It is written!

ROMANS 10:12

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek…for the same Lord is Lord is the Lord of ALL, (and He is) abounding in riches for all (everyone…whosoever…all) who call on Him (for deliverance)…”

ROMANS 10:13

“…for ‘whosoever’ will call on the Name (the Person) of the Lord will be saved.”

Remember Romans, Chapter 3, Verse 23?

ROMANS 3:23

…for all (everyone…whosoever) have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

Even the Country Clubbers fall short of the essence of God!  Romans, Chapter 3, Verses 10 and 11…

ROMANS 3:10

…as it is written, “There is no creature who is righteous, not even one…”

ROMANS 3:11

“There is no creature who understands God…there is no creature who seeks for a relationship with God…”

From the moment of our physical birth none of us are special, even though we’d like to proclaim ourselves to be special because of some human accomplishment.  Yet God says we’re all the same.  How about all the people who’d like you to believe they are better than you?  God doesn’t think so.  How about you, when you think you’re not cutting it…you’re not reaching the mark of some human accomplishment fast enough?  God has you right where He wants you…He has you learning important lessons to prepare you for what He has in store for you.

What we hope for when we pursue any endeavor is that the amount of effort and the amount of investment we put into the endeavor will in some way pay off.  I’d like to know that if I eat a certain way, I would become healthy.  I’d like to know that if I put my money in certain places that I will earn from the investment.  I’d like to know that if I invest myself in a relationship, it would bear fruit.  Reasonable requests.  I’d like to know that if I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, if I place my faith in Him, I would not be disappointed.  And the Lord says it is true… Romans, Chapter 10, Verses 13…

ROMANS 10:13

“…for ‘whosoever” will call on the Name (the Person) of the Lord will be saved.”

Let’s take a music break…let’s hear David Dunn tell us what the Lord our God wants us to have…he wants us to HAVE EVERYTHING…especially His “so great” salvation.

TODAY’S BIBLE LESSON

Jesus Christ is God

Welcome back!   As we study Romans, Chapters 9 to 11, we must not forget that Paul is talking about Unbelieving Israel and the Unbelieving Jewish race.  Many of the things Paul is saying throughout these chapters are quotes from the Old Testament.  Joel, Chapter 2, Verse 32…

JOEL 2:32

“And it will come about that whosoever calls on the name of the Lord

will be delivered…for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as the Lord has said, even among the survivors whom the Lord calls.”

The Lord Jesus Christ, our God, is always making offers…He is always extending His righteous right hand to those who would believe…so that they might be saved.  Frankly, I never get tired of the gospel message.  Matthew, Chapter 7, Verses 28 and 29…

MATTHEW 7:28

When Jesus had finished these words (The Sermon on the Mount), the crowds were amazed at His teaching…

MATTHEW 7:29

…for He was teaching them as if He were one having authority (because He does), and not as if He were one of their scribes.

Jesus Christ is God, and He made it clear in so many places and in so many ways that He is absolutely the One and Only God.  Matthew, Chapter 16, Verses 13 to 16…

MATTHEW 16:13

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

MATTHEW 16:14

And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”

MATTHEW 16:15

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

MATTHEW 16:16

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ (ho Kristos in Greek…the promised Messiah…the anointed One), the Son of the living God.”

The Lord Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of all the Old Testament promises about Messiah, and Peter knew.  Peter was a great student.  Isaiah, Chapter 9, Verse 6…

ISAIAH 9:6

For a child will be born to us (Jesus Christ), a son will be given to us (from God the Father) and the government (of the universe) will rest on His shoulders…and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Jesus Christ is God…Matthew, Chapter 16, Verse 17…

MATTHEW 16:17

And Jesus said to Peter, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-jona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My God and Father who is in heaven (revealed this to you).”

In John, Chapter 10, Verses 30, Jesus Christ made it clear that He is God…

JOHN 10:30

“I (the Lord Jesus Christ) and God the Father are the exact same in essence.”

Mark, Chapter 14, Verses 61 and 62…

MARK 14:61

Again the high priest kept on questioning Jesus, and saying to Him, “Are You the Christ (the Messiah), the Son of the Blessed One (God the Father)?”

MARK 14:62

And Jesus said, “I am (the Messiah…the Son of God)…and you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of The Power (God the Father…in a place of highest honor and supreme authority), and (you will see Me) coming with the clouds of heaven (to judge the living and the dead).”

Jesus Christ is God.  It’s not blasphemy if it is true.  And it is true.  The fact that Jesus Christ is God may be disturbing to those who don’t believe in Him, but their discomfort with the truth doesn’t change the truth at all.  Jesus Christ is God…the One and Only God…and each of us do well when we place our confidence in Him…for salvation…and for everything else.

GOD WANTS YOU!

Make the Most Important Decision of Your Life

ROMANS 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God the Father…divine omnipotence…to provide salvation to everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ…to the Jew first and also to the Greek (Gentiles).

MATTHEW 7:13

“Enter salvation through the narrow gate (the Lord Jesus Christ)…for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction…and there are many who enter through the wide gate.”

MATTHEW 7:14

“For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to the resurrection life, and there are few who find the narrow way.”

JOHN 10:9

“I (the Lord Jesus Christ) am the door to salvation…if anyone enters through believing in Me…he will be saved…and then he will go in and out and find pasture.”

FIRST CORINTHIANS 15:22

For all in union with Adam are set to die the second death in the Lake of Fire…but all those in union with Christ will live the resurrection life.
